Sushi Packaging

2021 | Identity

This identity design and product packaging was created to visualize the seven deadly sins of sushi. Each of the deadly sins was paired with a type of sushi roll or style of sushi and a logo was then created for each. Three of those logos were then chosen to further develop into product packaging. The packaging design of products that would be used in the consumption of sushi; sushi rice, sushi nori, and soy sauce.

Process

Identity

The seven deadly sins were paired with different sushi rolls or styles with similar attributions. Sloth is nigiri, wrath is a spicy roll, gluttony is temaki, greed is uramaki, lust is gunkan, envy is hosomaki, and pride is oshizushi.

Diecuts

Packaging Visualization

Greed, sloth, and gluttony were created into packaging for three products that could be used to create sushi. Gluttony is a box of sushi nori, greed is a soy sauce bottle, and Sloth is a pouch of sushi rice. Using a vibrant color palette inspired by Japanese woodblock prints, a pattern and imagery of a dragon were implemented.

Mockups of the different packaging were created using Adobe Dimension to visualize how the die-cuts would look in production.

When processing creating a sushi logo suite, the first iteration was in the realm of being three-dimensional. After some consideration and sketching, a flatter and more two-dimensional approach was taken and decided upon.
